DiodeGoneWild's reverse engineering of a modern computer power supply is cited for its stage-by-stage explanation of PFC, the main converter and how the lower voltage rails are derived.
Cited for its teardown and reverse-drawn schematic of a cheap high voltage module, revealing an oscillator, transformer and voltage multiplier inside.
Valued as a clear, thorough walk-through of a 24 V 10 A switching supply, explaining each stage of the circuit through a teardown.
Praised for explaining the ferroresonant mains regulator, an older design that uses magnetic saturation to hold output steady across wide input swings.
Cited as a demonstration of why cheap non-isolated capacitive dropper supplies are dangerous, using a lantern fan that puts mains voltage on a connected phone.
DiodeGoneWild's explainer on switch mode power supplies is praised for showing clearly how they turn mains AC into regulated DC using high-frequency pulses.
diodegonewild's power supply teardown is valued for its repair technique, a rough schematic of the unit, and a demonstration of series lamp testing.
Offered as a walk-through of a 100W flyback supply and its schematic, and as an illustration of inrush trouble when such a supply powers a drill.
DiodeGoneWild's teardown of a 12V 10A supply is suggested for learning how such switching circuits work, and for comparing transformer sizes across power levels.
